| Autoren: | RUTH, K. | Titel: | Industrial Culture and Machine Tool Industries: Competitiveness and Innovation Trajectories. | Abstract: | The article highlights some selected factors influencing the innovative capabilities of machine tool sectors in Germany and Japan. Besides common structural data on the machine tool sectors in both countries industrial cultural influences on competitiveness are presented. Design sources, the role of involved (institutional) actors, dominating (technical and social) design orientations (of developing engineers) contribute to an industrial culturally shaped innovation make-up, which is the arena where intra-organizational design actors form coalitions with external counterparts. The article concludes with a comparison of the Japanese and German innovation dynamics and finally develops some ideas for improving the German machine tool sector’s innovation capabilities. | Herausgeber: | Rasmussen, L.; Rauner, F. | Buch/Zeitschriftname: | Industrial Cultures and Production - Understanding Competitiveness. | Verlag: | Springer Verlag | Ort: | London | Jahr: | 1996 | Jhrg.: | | BdNr.: | | HeftNr.: | | Seitenzahl: | | ISBN/ISSN: | | Preis: | 5,00 DM | BestellNr.
