Kommentar: | Hello. I am searching my Klawitter family from Dobrin bei Prussiches Friedland (Debrzno Wies, Poland), and their rich, influential cousins , the Klawiters of Klawittersdorf (Glowaczewo) , about 9km northeast of Deutsche Krone (Walcz) . Our family were aristocratic too, they had land and a coat of arms , i don't know if they had titles, they woulfd have been considered Junkers. They often went and stayed with their cousins in Klawittersdorf. My great-grandfather, Robert Rheinhold Klawitter, born February 10th, 1863, emigrated to Blue Island, Illinois (Chicago) 1890, and met his wife there , Maria Ostrosnik (a Slovenian heiress) and built a large house in 1893 in Steger, Illinois, where the family still lives. His brother Julius or Emil(not sure which name) moved to Wisconsin and lost contact;his sisters Bertha and Augusta remained in Pomerania, with his father, August(Gustav), a well known military man, and mother Julia (Passoth) . Robert and later his sons all wrote to the family in Pomerania-Prussia, both in Dobrin and Klawittersdorf, up until 1945, when the Prussian family disappeared and never wrote again. Our family burned their letters during the war, they were afraid if somebody found them, they would be sent to the camps , like the Japanese. They thought the family would write after the war and they never did. We are afraid of what happened to them, if anyone can help us find them, and the Klawittersdorf Klawiter cousins, please help us, we are desperate to find them. Please contact me , Mary De Francesco at: wolfango.defrancesco@tin.it Thank you very very much for any help you can give, Mary |
